Raft 101 Survival Classes Tier List
Coin unlocks ranked for survival, combat, and co-op — updated for current meta.
Classes define how fast you gather, fight, and reach Day 101 in Raft 101 Survival on Roblox. The Experimental Games sells them with Coins earned in-game — not codes — at prices like Defender ~65, Scavenger 140, Arctic Warrior ~500, Ghost Pirate ~675, Captain ~800, Advanced Carpenter ~1050, and Scientist 1,500. This tier list ranks every class for starter value, mid-game combat, co-op synergy, and long-run economy so you spend Coins once and correctly.
For individual breakdowns, read Best Starter Class and the Scientist deep dive. Role guides live under Classes hub.

S-tier: Scientist
Scientist tops combat tiers for octopus encounters and solo 101-day pushes. High Coin cost delays purchase, which is why Coin Farming and Scavenger-first routing matter.
Buy when: Days 20–50 before major ocean threats. Skip when: Full co-op crew with dedicated fighter who already owns Scientist.
A-tier: Scavenger and Ghost Pirate
Scavenger is the highest value per Coin in the game. Early loot speed accelerates fireplace progression, fishing buffers, and Scientist savings.
Ghost Pirate is the best mid-game fighter before Scientist — toxic flintlock pressure for haunted ships and island camps.
Buy Scavenger when: First class purchase, period. Buy Ghost Pirate when: You need personal DPS and cannot afford Scientist yet.
B-tier: Arctic Warrior, Captain, Advanced Carpenter, Pirate, Defender, Carpenter
- Arctic Warrior — hunger cut, Ice Spear, Snowball Launcher for long island chains
- Captain — shot-calling and flex support in organized co-op
- Advanced Carpenter — elite raft fortress upgrades
- Pirate — cheaper boarding kit with chest luck
- Defender — ~65 Coin spikes and slower totem steals
- Carpenter — 100 Coin repair starter for builder seats
These shine when roles are fixed — one Scavenger, one fighter, one builder, one Captain — but lose value as solo mains if they lack DPS or economy.
Re-evaluate after Admin Abuse events that buff underused kits.
Solo versus co-op rankings
Solo main priority: Scavenger → Arctic Warrior or Ghost Pirate → Scientist → builders only if you hate repairing
Co-op priority: Scavenger looter, Scientist or Ghost Pirate fighter, Defender/Carpenter line, Captain flex
Duplicate Scientists waste Coins unless both players split mast and island duties full time.
Coin spending order
- Scavenger (140) — or Defender (65) first for dedicated totem guards
- Pirate (~400), Arctic Warrior (~500), or Ghost Pirate (~675) if combat/exploration is urgent
- Captain (~800) or Advanced Carpenter (~1050) for co-op roles
- Scientist (1,500)
Do not buy cosmetic flex classes before Scientist if you intend to beat ocean bosses.
Comparison to game passes
Game passes speed grind; classes define ceiling. A VIP boost without Scientist still struggles on octopus enrage timers.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What is the best class in Raft 101 Survival?
Scientist is the best combat class at 1,500 Coins. Scavenger at 140 Coins is the best first purchase for economy.
Should I buy Scavenger or Scientist first?
Always Scavenger first. Save for Scientist before mid-game ocean threats.
Can I reach Day 101 without Scientist?
Possible in co-op with a Scientist teammate. Solo Day 101 is much harder without Scientist DPS.
Do classes cost Robux?
Classes use in-game Coins. Game passes may use Robux separately — see the Game Passes guide.
Does the tier list change after updates?
Yes. Balance patches can buff niche classes. Check the Updates hub after major patches.
